A.W.A.R.E. Program

$1225/program

Eight 1-hour sessions

Our A.W.A.R.E. program aims to educate and support adolescents who are lacking self-management skills—to increase confidence, attention, impulse control, and emotion regulation while decreasing anxiety and stress levels. Many adolescents struggle with high levels of stress and use maladaptive strategies and high-risk behaviours to cope. Teaching mindfulness strategies to adolescents can empower them to manage stress more effectively, reducing impulsivity and reactivity. Mindfulness encourages one to slow down, problem solve and make more effective choices. Additionally, helping adolescents to label and validate their own feelings teaches them to trust their own experiences and build a healthier sense of self.

The A.W.A.R.E. Program provides:

  • Skills groups and coaching
  • A safe, trauma-informed learning environment
  • Group guidelines that prioritize respect and confidentiality
  • Interactive and collaborative learning
  • Time for quiet reflection, breathing exercises, and meditation
  • Suggested weekly home practice of new skills
  • Weekly communication with the school guidance counsellor
  • Surveys to measure progress
  • Closing ceremony to celebrate the student’s efforts made during the program
